Who is Georgia I. Hesse
?
Georgia I. Hesse was the founding travel editor of the San Francisco Examiner and served in that capacity for 19 years. She continues to write for the Examiner as well as several other regional newspapers and nationally-circulated magazines. Her wanderings have taken Georgia to more than 190 countries; as of August, 1999, she has flown across the Pacific 95 times, the Atlantic 154 times, and has stepped upon the ice at the North Pole and in Antarctica. (Tradition says this last accomplishment entitles her to put both boots upon the table after dinner but she has not yet done that.) The question most frequently asked of Georgia is "Where would you be if you could live anywhere in the world?" Her answer is "I do." A resident of San Francisco all her adult life, she claims to have been born in Wyoming "on the 28 Ranch at Crazy Woman Creek in the shade of the Big Horn Mountains." Georgia celebrates Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, California, for their beauty, their history, their increasingly excellent cuisines and wines, and because she realizes the stands of Big Trees are haunted. She is a member of the board of directors of the Redwood Empire Association. |
